The Stargate initiative represents a new generation of extremely large AI infrastructure development in the United States.
Abilene, Texas, has emerged as one of the most visible early locations associated with the program, while additional large-scale AI infrastructure developments are being pursued elsewhere.
The significance of these projects extends far beyond the actual buildings containing computer servers. Large AI campuses can require enormous electrical loads along with substations, transmission infrastructure, cooling plants, mechanical systems, backup generation, water systems, utility construction, and extensive commissioning.
As AI computing demand grows, the construction of the infrastructure needed to power and cool these facilities is becoming an industrial construction sector of its own.
5. TSMC Arizona Semiconductor Manufacturing Campus — Phoenix, Arizona
Industry: Semiconductor Manufacturing
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Developer: TSMC
Status: Ongoing Construction and Expansion
TSMC continues developing and expanding its massive semiconductor manufacturing presence in Arizona.
The Phoenix-area campus is evolving into a multi-facility semiconductor manufacturing complex supported by extensive utility and process infrastructure.
Modern semiconductor fabs require enormous amounts of supporting equipment and systems, including ultra-pure water production, process gases, chemical distribution, exhaust systems, chilled water, electrical infrastructure, cleanrooms, specialty piping, and sophisticated manufacturing equipment.
TSMC has also announced additional U.S. investment plans involving new fabrication facilities, advanced packaging capacity, and research and development infrastructure.
Rather than viewing the Arizona development as a single construction project, it is increasingly becoming a long-term industrial campus that could generate multiple construction cycles.
6. Golden Pass LNG — Sabine Pass, Texas
Industry: LNG / Energy
Location: Sabine Pass, Texas
Owners: QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil
Investment: More Than $10 Billion
Status: Late-Stage Construction / Commissioning / Startup
Golden Pass LNG has entered an important transition period as portions of the massive Gulf Coast facility move from construction toward startup and operation.
The project includes three LNG liquefaction trains along with storage tanks, marine infrastructure, utilities, treatment systems, electrical systems, process equipment, piping, and supporting facilities.
Train 1 reached a major milestone with initial LNG production in 2026, but activity across a facility of this size does not end when the first train starts producing.
Completion, commissioning, startup, maintenance preparation, remaining construction, and subsequent train activity can continue creating significant industrial activity as the entire complex moves toward full operation.
7. Rio Bravo Pipeline — South Texas
Industry: Natural Gas Pipeline / LNG Infrastructure
Location: South Texas
Length: Approximately 138 Miles
Capacity: Up to Approximately 4.5 Bcf per Day
Status: Major Development / Construction
The Rio Bravo Pipeline is an important part of the infrastructure supporting the Rio Grande LNG development near Brownsville.
The system is designed to transport large volumes of natural gas to the LNG facility and includes pipeline infrastructure along with compressor, metering, control, and supporting facilities.
Projects such as Rio Bravo demonstrate why major industrial developments should be viewed as entire infrastructure networks rather than individual facilities.
A multi-billion-dollar LNG terminal can generate additional construction hundreds of miles away through pipelines, compressor stations, transmission systems, roads, utilities, and other supporting infrastructure.
8. Blackcomb Pipeline — Texas
Industry: Natural Gas Pipeline
Location: Texas
Length: Approximately 365 Miles
Capacity: Approximately 2.5 Bcf per Day
Status: Under Construction / Approaching Service
The Blackcomb Pipeline is one of the major natural gas takeaway projects being developed to move increasing Permian Basin production toward South Texas.
The approximately 365-mile system is designed to transport roughly 2.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day toward the Agua Dulce area.
Construction has been underway, with the project targeting service during 2026.
Blackcomb is particularly significant because Gulf Coast LNG exports, power generation, industrial development, and rapidly increasing electricity demand are creating additional demand for natural gas transportation infrastructure.
9. Hugh Brinson Pipeline — Texas
Industry: Natural Gas Pipeline
Location: West and Central Texas
Developer: Energy Transfer
Phase 1 Length: Approximately 400 Miles
Initial Capacity: Approximately 1.5 Bcf per Day

Construction continues on Energy Transfer’s Hugh Brinson Pipeline, another major project designed to increase natural gas takeaway capacity from the Permian Basin.
Phase 1 includes approximately 400 miles of 42-inch pipeline extending from the Waha area toward Maypearl, Texas, where the system connects with Energy Transfer’s broader pipeline and storage network.
The development also includes the Midland Lateral, which connects processing facilities in the Midland Basin with the Hugh Brinson system.
Phase 1 is targeted for service by late 2026, with additional compression expected to increase the system’s ultimate transportation capacity.
The project has been reported to support approximately 3,100 construction jobs at peak activity.
10. The Next Wave of Texas Industrial and Energy Infrastructure
Industry: Pipelines / LNG / Power / Data Centers
Location: Texas
Status: Multiple Projects Under Development
Texas deserves special attention beyond any single project because several major industrial trends are converging in the state simultaneously.
Permian Basin natural gas production continues driving new pipeline construction. Gulf Coast LNG export facilities are creating additional demand for transportation and processing infrastructure. At the same time, AI data centers and other large industrial developments are creating unprecedented electricity requirements.
New pipelines, compressor stations, generation facilities, transmission systems, LNG expansions, data centers, semiconductor facilities, and supporting infrastructure are increasingly interconnected.
For industrial construction workers, this means the next major Texas project may not necessarily be an LNG terminal or refinery. It could be the pipeline supplying it, the power plant feeding a data center, the transmission infrastructure connecting that plant, or the manufacturing facility producing equipment for the broader expansion.
U.S. Industrial Construction Outlook — August 2026
The scale of current U.S. industrial development shows that the next construction cycle is becoming increasingly diversified.
Traditional oil and gas construction remains extremely important, particularly along the Gulf Coast and throughout Texas. At the same time, semiconductor manufacturing and AI infrastructure are creating an entirely new class of industrial megaproject.
Three areas stand out particularly strongly heading through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027: Texas and the Gulf Coast for LNG and pipeline construction, Arizona and New York for semiconductor manufacturing, and Texas and Louisiana for massive AI and data-center infrastructure.
Many of these developments will continue for years and will generate additional projects around them.
Næxon Careers will continue monitoring major industrial projects across the United States, including new construction, expansions, shutdowns, turnarounds, pipelines, LNG facilities, power projects, semiconductor fabs, data centers, and other developments that could create future employment opportunities.
